How to Relieve Stress

How to Relieve Stress

Stress is a common problem for many people. Whether it is the worries of work or at home, knowing how to counteract stress is key and the following is just some simple steps in helping you feel better. Each of the following does not have to be done one after another, rather separately to help ease stress.

Things You'll Need:

Time

An open mind

The want to get rid of stress

How to Relieve Stress

1

Work out. Go to the gym or go for a run. A lot of times stress can be relieved by physical exertion.

2

Go to the movies. Many people would scoff at the idea of seeing a motion picture alone but it is actually a great stress reducer. Go to a movie that you have really wanted to see or just randomly pick one. While you are in the movie theatre, focus all your attention on paying attention to the stories on the screen and not your own.

3

Talk to a trusted friend or family member. A lot of people don't feel comfortable sharing their feelings with others but if you have someone that you trust and or love, chances are strong that that person would be very open to listening to your problems. Sometimes just sharing an experience helps to remove the stress associated with it.

How to Relieve Menopause With Acupuncture

How to Relieve Menopause With Acupuncture

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, menopause is seen as a means of conserving a woman's Qi after her child-bearing years are over. The resources that were once used in the preparation of the uterus for a
pregnancy
and subsequent shedding of blood now may be retained. Symptoms of menopause are therefore caused by underlying problems with the Qi.

1

View menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats as primarily caused by a constrained liver Qi and kidney yin or yang deficiency, although the heart, liver and spleen are often involved.

2

Use acupuncture to balance the Qi and strengthen internal organs. The acupoints to be stimulated depend on whether the symptoms are primarily caused by a deficiency of kidney yin or yang.

3

Detect evidence of kidney yin deficiency. These symptoms include a bright red menstrual flow, back aches, dizziness, hot flashes, insomnia, sweating and tinnitus. The skin may be dry and the tongue should have little coating. The stools should be hard and dry with scant yellow urine.

4

Identify signs of kidney yang deficiency. These symptoms include a dark menstrual discharge with blood clots, the loss of appetite, a dull complexion, cold extremities, listlessness and edema. The tongue may be pale and sometimes tender. Urination is frequent and occasionally accompanied by a clear vaginal discharge.

5

Initiate treatment with acupuncture while a woman is still on Hormone Replacement Therapy. Women with thyroid disorders and those undergoing chemotherapy will need additional treatment.

How to Relieve Leg Cramps

How to Relieve Leg Cramps

Leg cramps can be excruciatingly painful. You can go to any store and buy a pain reliever to ease the pain from leg cramps or use items from your very own kitchen. Home remedies can sometimes work better than store bought and are a whole lot cheaper too.

Things You'll Need:

A bar of soap

Mustard (cheap bottle or fast food packets)

Pickle juice

Baking Soda

Using home remedies to relieve leg cramps

1

Take any bar of soap, unwrap it and place it under the fitted sheet where your calves would go. Make sure to check under the fitted sheet every night to be sure it is still there in case you may have kicked it out. Some people say this remedy doesn't work for them but most people swear by soap under the sheets to relieve their leg cramps. Make sure to replace the bar of soap every month or six weeks to be sure this soap remedy keeps working.

2

Take a teaspoon of cheap yellow mustard and quickly swallow it. You can also use the little packets of mustard you get from fast food restaurants for the right dosage. Place these packets of mustard on your nightstand within easy reach in case you wake up from the agonizing pain caused by leg cramps. This can work for nighttime cramps as well as daytime cramps. Most people who have tried this say it works really fast to relieve the pain from leg cramps. If you have heartburn or indigestion, you should chase the mustard down with a glass of water. If the glass of water does not help and you are still getting heartburn from the mustard, take a heartburn relief medicine or try another remedy.

3

Drink an ounce of pickle juice before or during the leg cramps. If you know you are going to have leg cramps, you should drink an ounce of pickle juice in the morning for daytime cramps or before going to bed for nighttime cramps. By drinking pickle juice during leg cramps, the pain from the leg cramps should go away.

4

Mix 1/4 tsp of baking soda with a glass of water and drink it before strenuous exercise or activity to prevent leg cramps. Some people think the soda from the baking soda neutralizes lactic acid that forms in the muscles during exercise. This, however, has not been scientifically proven.

5

Pinch your upper lip hard, for several seconds, until the leg cramps are gone. There is no scientific proof that this works, but some leg cramp sufferers say it works great for them.

Tips & Warnings

Try any one of these remedies or all of them until you find the one that works best for you.

None of these home remedies have been scientifically proven so try them at your own risk. If one doesn't work, try another. If none of them work, consult your doctor about a prescribed medication or go to your local drug store and find something that suits you better.
